DESTROY THE VICIOUS CIRCLE OF LEGALIZED CORRUPTION

Having identified corruption as the major problem of our country and over the years,Nigerians were praying to have a leader that will stand beyond all odds to kick, kill and bury the corruption ravaging our dear country, but it's quite unfortunate that some Nigerians are still in love with the national disease called corruption despite all the effort of the present government to crush it.
We are all fallible being and no Saint in politics but believe me, if the past government have been engaging in this kind of anti-corruption crusade, even if it happens to be against their political opponents provided they are guilty, we would have flush out corruption out of our system.
No doubt, this government have proved to us that the three arms of Nigeria government are legalized vicious circle of corruption but with the present administration, I believe the executive arms is in the safer hand but the legislative and judiciary needs to be touched.
We have heard the issue of budget padding, forgery of Senate standing order and raiding the houses of corruptible judges, is that not good enough for Nigeria to be happy.
Believe me, the budget padding will definitely affect most of the powerful Senators and honorables of the house, it's just a matter of time and the recent arrest of some judges will disclose how our judiciary have been use as instrument of political corruption.
It's disheartening that some people who abhor inherent animosity for the president are misinforming the general public, especially on the issue of arrested judges, all the noise is political, how many of them shouted when Ayo Fayose supervised the beating of a judge in Ekiti state?, how many of them condemned the killing of lawyers and a judge in Rivers state?, while condemning the legalized arrest of the corrupt judges?.
Fight against something and we focus on the thing we hate, fight for something and we focus on the thing we love, please how do we develop with this kind of attitude.
May God grant us understanding and help us the truth to know

Money Recovered From DSS Raid On Judges Revealed

SaharaReporters has learnt from sources at the Department of State Security (DSS) that the overnight raid on the residences of some nine court judges, culminating in the arrest of several of them, came as a result of petitions and decisions of the National Judicial Council (NJC), a statutory body that regulates the activities of judges.

Two DSS sources, however, stated that contrary to earlier reports, the Supreme Court nominee for Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was not targeted in any of the raids conducted so far. Justice Onnohen reportedly raised alarm to friends when he noticed police action next to his residence as a team of security agents swooped on his next door neighbor, Justice Sylvanus Ngwunta. A press release issued by the DSS indicated that Justice Onnohen is not under investigation, SaharaReporters learnt that the justice's appointment is being fast-tracked to become the CJN in a few days.

However, two Supreme Court justices, John Inyang Okoro and Sylvanus Ngwuta, were arrested in connection with the receipt of bribes from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Justice Ngwuta reportedly traveled to Qatar to receive bribes that he shared with Justice Okoro and other justices in order to help Mr. Wike to win a case at the Supreme Court regarding his disputed election. During a search of his home Justice Ngwunta was in possession of N35,208m, $319,475, 25,890 pounds and 280 Euros

The two judges have been linked with massive properties development in Abuja and Calabar. Justice Okoro is said to be building seven houses simultaneously in Calabar with the help of former Governor Godswill Akpabio and his predecessor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom state. Justice Okoro had N4.35m, $38,833 and 1000 Euros in his possession during his arrest this morning.

SaharaReporters learned that Governor Wike sprang up late at night to obstruct the arrest of a judge in Port Harcourt. The altercation that ensued created a tense atmosphere between the Governor and security operatives sent to arrest the judge.

One source told SaharaReporters that the judge involved was Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Justice Liman, who is yet to be apprehended reportedly took $2million from Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party to give a judgement that “overthrew” the faction led by a former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff. Governor Wike reportedly transferred the funds in cash to Liman in Ghana, before it was ferried to his home in Port Harcourt. The bribe was to be shared between Lima and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Auta. When the team arrived the house in Port Harcourt where the loot was kept Gov. Wike mobilized his men to counter the DSS team with the aid of the State’s Police Commissioner. Another source also stated that one Justice Uche Nma Agomoh of the Federal High Court in the same city who was a lackey of the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Joseph Daudu was also involved in the scam.

A statement issued by the DSS stated that their team was obstructed by the governor and some thugs with the help of officers from a sister agency, which SaharaReporters learnt is a reference to the Nigerian police.

A security source claimed that Governor Wike left when confronted by police and DSS agents who threatened to shoot him, however, the obstruction aided movement of the cash found on the property. Governor Wike told a different version to the press, claiming he did not know who the judge was.

As early as 11 p.m. Nigerian time, the siege on the homes of judges became public knowledge when DSS agents raided the home of a young judge, Dimgba Nnamdi, who apparently has been a thorn in the side of the DSS lately. When the siege was over, the judge's brother had been brutalized, after which the security agents showed their victim a "search warrant" meant for Justice Okoro. Justice Dimgba Nnamdi was "roughened up" but not immediately arrested. However, a DSS source stated Justice Dimgba is guilty of corruption and had been arrested as well.

Justice Muazu Pindiga, who was arrested in Gombe, was transported to the DSS headquarters in Abuja. A DSS source told our correspondent that Justice Pindiga was cooperating with the DSS regarding his role in a bribery scheme over the Rivers State election tribunal from which he was removed as a judge as Saharareporters exposed him for receiving N100m from Governor Wike.

SaharaReporters learned that Justice Muhammad Ladan Tsamiya, an Appeal Court justice who was recently "compulsorily retired" by the NJC, was not home when a DSS team invaded his home in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja, he reportedly surrendered to the DSS later this morning.

One of the most dramatic scenes took place when the DSS team stormed the home of Justice Adeniyi Ademola. When the team ordered Justice Ademola to come out, the judge claimed he was not home, but his cellphone signal gave him away. He was subsequently arrested with at least N300 million found in different local and foreign currencies in his bedroom. Specifically the same of N54m cash, $171,779. 4,400 Euros, 1,010 Rupees, and 80 pounds was found in his residence.

A different team also arrested Justice Kabiru Auta in Kano.

One DSS source told our reporter that the raids were meant to be carried out by joint DSS and the Nigerian police teams, adding that the police bungled some of the raids by apparently tipping off their targets.

Several security agents stated that the raids took place following independent investigations that were triggered by petitions submitted to the NJC against some of the judges. According to one of the operatives, none of the nine judges targeted haven't spent their salaries in the last two years.

One source revealed that the raids were originally planned for last week, but had to be postponed for "strategic reasons."

A statement issued by the DSS stated that the agency had recovered large sums of foreign and local currencies. The DSS gave a breakdown of the recovered funds as follows:

SUMMARY OF RECOVERED MONEY

1. NAIRA - N93,558,000.00

2. DOLLARS - $530,087

3. POUNDS - £25,970

4. EURO - €5,680

Other foreign currencies were also recovered. The funds were recovered from just three of the arrested judges.

The DSS revealed that its operatives also seized banking as well as real estate documents from several judges.

The agency is making preparations to arraign the arrested justices in court early next week.

The Ban On Imported Rice Is Still In Effect - Nigerian Customs

Below is a press release from the Nigerian customs service stating that the ban on imported rice is still very much in effect, contrary to reports that surfaced yesterday that the ban had been removed.

RICE IMPORTS REMAIN BANNED THROUGH THE LAND BORDERS

Our attention has been drawn to publications on various online platforms indicating that the Nigeria Customs Service has reversed the ban on Rice importation through the land borders. These reports were attributed to a press interview purportedly granted by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy-Comptroller Wale Adeniyi.

2. It has become necessary to re-state the true position in view of the confusion which these online publications may create in the industry. It is even more expedient to provide this clarification given that the fact that the Service has taken a firm position earlier in the week through a joint press conference with Stakeholders.

3. First, we like to reiterate the position that importation of Rice remains banned through our Land Borders, and we have the commitment of Partner Government Agencies and Stakeholders to enforce this restriction. While this restriction is in force, Rice imports through the Ports are still allowed subject to payment of extant charges.

4. It is equally important to restate the confidence of the Nigeria Customs Service in the ability of Nigerian Rice Producers to fill the existing sufficiency gaps in the supply of the product. The Service has noted with satisfaction the ongoing Rice Revolution undertaken by many State Governments, and Strategic Interventions by Federal Government Agencies. The Service is convinced that the bumper harvests expected from these efforts will address the supply gap in 2017. It is our belief that continuous waste of scarce forex on a commodity that can be produced locally makes no economic sense, most especially at a period of recession. The Service will therefore advocate a total Ban on Rice Importation into Nigeria with effect from 2017.

5. It is worrisome that the publications that resurfaced this weekend were being attributed to a Press interview granted in October 2015. We strongly suspect that some powerful forces behind Rice Smuggling are at work, recycling an old report under a different circumstance to create confusion. We urge Nigerians to watch out for similar antics as the firm stand on Rice smuggling will pitch their selfish interest against our national interest.

James Ibori Leaves UK Prison In December - The Nation

Former governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, is due to become a free man in December, after spending half of his jail term in United Kingdom prisons, according to a report from London.

Ibori was jailed for money laundering offences by Southwark Crown court in 2012.

But it is unclear yet whether he will return to Nigeria immediately as legal proceedings concerning the confiscation of his assets worth tens of millions of dollars are yet to be resolved.

The delay in resolving the issue stems from allegations of police corruption in the Ibori matter and the likelihood of the former governor taking his case to the Court of Appeal.

His lawyer told the court on Friday that the former governor would appeal against his conviction on the grounds that British police and lawyers involved in his case were themselves corrupt.

Ibori, who governed Delta State from 1999 to 2007, is serving a 13-year sentence after pleading guilty in 2012 to 10 counts of fraud and money-laundering.

While in office, Ibori acquired luxury properties in Britain, the United States, South Africa and Nigeria. He is the most senior Nigerian politician to have been held to account for the corruption that has blighted Africa’s most populous nation.

His jailing in Britain, where he had laundered millions of pounds and sent his children to an expensive private school, was hailed as a high point in the international fight against graft and an important signal to other corrupt politicians.

But his lawyer Ivan Krolick told Southwark Crown Court on Friday that Ibori was “95 percent certain” to challenge his conviction in the Court of Appeal based on documents that have only recently been disclosed to the defence by the prosecution.

At the same hearing, Stephen Kamlish, a lawyer for Ibori associate and convicted money launderer Bhadresh Gohil, said the documents showed there had been widespread police corruption followed by a cover-up that was still going on now.

The main allegation is that a police officer involved in the Ibori probe took payments for information in 2007 from a firm of private detectives working on Ibori’s behalf. At the time, Ibori had not been arrested and was still in Nigeria, but knew that British police were investigating his finances.

Kamlish said prosecution lawyers had known there was evidence of police corruption but had failed to disclose it to defence lawyers. Krolick told Reuters on the sidelines of Friday’s court hearing that Ibori did not know about the payments at the time.

The police have said that the allegation was thoroughly investigated and that no one was arrested or charged, and no misconduct identified. The officer against whom the allegations have been made is still in active service.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), after a lengthy internal investigation, said in September it was confident that the convictions of Ibori and Gohil remained valid.

The CPS has said it found “material to support the assertion that a police officer received payment in return for information.” It did not use the word “evidence”, suggesting it did not consider the material in question amounted to proof.

But the CPS conceded in September that the material should have been disclosed to the defence, and handed over thousands of documents to defence lawyers. Those were the documents that Kamlish and Krolick were referring to in court on Friday.

Gohil has already filed an appeal against his conviction. Krolick said Ibori was likely to do so once his legal team had finished going through all the newly disclosed documents.

As is normal under British procedures, Ibori is due to be released in December after serving half his sentence, taking into account pre-trial detention.

Gohil, a British former lawyer, has already been released after serving half of a 10-year term for his role in laundering Ibori’s millions.

Military Action Still An Option Against Militancy In Niger Delta – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna on Saturday warned that decisive military action was still an option to deal with militancy in Niger Delta if militants continued with sabotage.

The president gave the warning at the Passing out Parade of 133 Cadets of 63rd Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

Mr. Buhari, who expressed happiness that the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East was being defeated, however, noted that militancy and other forms of emerging threats, including kidnapping, were negatively impacting the nation’s economy.

He said the clean-up of the Ogoniland was one of the ways to deal with the root causes of militancy in the region.

“However, for avoidance of doubt, let me state that other options are still open, including decisive military action.
“Today, criminal elements disguise in ethnic regalia to sabotage the country, largely for their selfish and parochial interests.

“I reiterate the call on all Nigerians to give peace a chance and jettison negative tendencies and join government’s efforts aimed at addressing the numerous challenges in the task of building a better Nigeria,” Mr. Buhari said.

The president, however, added that his administration would prioritise constructive engagement of relevant parties in dialogue to address issues.

On the insurgency in the North East, the president said although his administration “inherited a badly managed Boko Haram”, the capacity of the insurgents to launch attack had been “significantly curtailed.”

He also said that their capacity to take territories had been knocked out, adding that ongoing operations were to clear remnants of the terrorists from their hideouts.

The president charged the newly commissioned officers to remain apolitical, patriotic and loyal to the nation at all times.

He reminded them that they no longer belong to themselves, their parents, families, tribes and villages but the nation and be ready to pay the supreme sacrifice if the need arises. (NAN)

Senator Akpabio Denies Involvement In Bribery Of Supreme Court Justices

The attention of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has denied any connection to the alleged bribery of Justices of the Supreme Court.

A sensational story making the rounds in the social media and circulated by the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a screaming headline: "Breaking News! 2015 A'Ibom polls: Fear grips Akpabio over arrest of Supreme Court Justices," had alleged that the Senator was scared over the ordeal of the Judges.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Senate Minority Leader, Mr Anietie Ekong described the story as being " spurious, baseless, false and the figment of the imagination of mischief makers who concocted it. Their frantic and desperate attempt to link Senator Akpabio with the saga is to tarnish his image in their continuing pull-him-down syndrome, which has increased in intensity since the party lost Akwa Ibom State."

According to the statement "the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state most emphatically that Senator Akpabio is in no way involved in the alleged bribery of Supreme Court judges and so has no reason whatsoever to be scared over the arrest of the Judges. He has had no contact with any Judge with the intention of bribing them."

Continuing the statement said: "In the last few years, Senator Akpabio's only contact with Supreme Court Justices was on December 13, 2015 when as the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters the members, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator David Umaru paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice of the Federation and other Supreme Court Justices. After the event which was widely reported the Supreme Court Justices and members of the committee took group photographs.

"Senator Akpabio as a democrat believes in the sanctity of the electoral process and so has not been involved in bribing any Judge as it is not in his character  to do so. His election as a Senator which was seen as a no contest after a sterling performance as Governor of Akwa Ibom State was widely held as free and fair.

"Senator Akpabio like many other Nigerians learnt of the news of the arrest of the Judges/ Justices on Saturday while he was in Irrua, Edo State when he along with the Senate President and other Senators attended the wedding of the daughter of their colleague, Senator Clifford Ordia.

"It is most disingenuous and reprehensible for Akwa Ibom State APC to attempt to link Senator Akpabio to something he has no knowledge of and impute he was gripped with fear when he was busy celebrating with his colleague on the marriage of his daughter in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government of Edo State.

"We condemn it in very strong terms and advice those whose stock in trade and preoccupation is to link Senator Akpabio to every ignominious scheme to desist from such pull-him-down syndrome. It is however sad that Akwa Ibom State APC, rather than wait for the investigation to take its course, have already condemned their son, Justice Inyang Okoro and celebrate his present ordeal.

"Senator Akpabio will explore available legal remedies to protect his hard earned reputation from being dragged into the mud by political mischief makers. Distinguished Senator Akpabio however cautions all political players to take actions that will sustain democracy and not actions that imperil our hard earned democracy," the statement said.

Gunmen Kidnap Ajibola Oyedele's Wife In Ekiti, Demand N40m Ransom

Armed men have kidnapped the wife of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, Ajibola Oyedele.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the kidnappers have since demanded a ransom of N40 million from Mr. Oyedele.
Mr. Oyedele, popularly called 50-50 by his political fans, revealed on Saturday night that he was able to speak with his wife at about 5:45 p.m.
She was abducted late Friday at about 8:30 p.m. at the family home in Omuo Oke, a town in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The woman did not resist her abductors.

According to Mr. Oyedele the kidnappers claimed that he was their actual target.
“At gunpoint, my wife surrendered the key to our Nissan Ultimate to the kidnappers and they drove her away to an unknown destination.
“We have not heard anything from her since the incident. All her lines are switched off,” he said in an earlier post on Facebook.
Mr. Oyedele who defected to the APC in July this year, was the only PDP member of the last Ekiti State House of Assembly.

He was subsequently appointed Special Assistant on Parliamentary Affairs by Governor Ayo Fayose.
But he resigned from the government on May 31, 2016, citing poor remuneration.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SACKED 22 TOP OFFICIALS OVER BUDGET PADDING

A total of 184 civil servants were disciplined for their different roles in the padding of the 2016 budget.

This was contained in Buhari’s authorised biography, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’, written by Prof. John Paden and presented to the public on Monday.
Of the 184, Paden said 22 top officials were dismissed from service.

He said the President viewed the padding as an attempt to scuttle his administration’s innovations, hence his decision to wield the big stick against the culprits.

The author wrote, “Buhari himself was frustrated by earlier padding of the budget by bureaucrats in some of the ministries.

“This was interpreted by the Buhari team as an attempt to scuttle the innovations proposed by the President by inflating their costs.

“When Buhari found out, he was reported to be angry and ordered a purge of the ministries involved from the Director-General down.

“Twenty-two top officials were dismissed, including the budget director. In all, 184 civil servants were disciplined.”

He added that even after the budget had been adjusted downward by the National Assembly, the country would still have to borrow $3.5bn, as a result of the drop in oil prices.

In February, Buhari had while addressing the Nigerian community in Saudi Arabia, vowed that all those involved in the padding of the 2016 national budget, which led to the discrepancies in the document, would face severe punishment.

He had said the alterations, which he described as embarrassing and disappointing, made the document, being debated in the National Assembly at that time, completely different from what was prepared by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

Describing those responsible for the distortion of the budget proposals as entrenched interests, the President had said since he had been holding public offices, he had never heard about budget padding before the incident.

Buhari had added, “The culprits will not go unpunished. I have been a military governor, petroleum minister, military Head of State and headed the Petroleum Trust Fund.

“Never had I heard the words budget padding. Our Minister of Budget and National Planning did a great job with his team.

“The minister became almost half his size during the time, working night and day to get the budget ready, only for some people to pad it.

“What he gave us was not what was finally being debated. It is very embarrassing and disappointing. We will not allow those who did it to go unpunished.”

Reaffirming his government’s zero tolerance for corruption, Buhari said the war against corruption was a monumental task that he was determined to tackle successfully.

He Lost His Job, His Wife Left Him By Joseph edgar

He Lost His Job, His Wife Left Him By Joseph
edgar
He has come to my office two times.
Lean and dark, trying very hard not to
betray his deep sadness as he manages
a smile each time he looks at me. His
eyes remain sad, deep and penetrating,
his gaunt look making his oversized
jacket hang on his dour frame with pity
at his condition. His sadness infects me
as I remain almost helpless in solving his
immediate problem which is to assist him
get a job.
The saddest thing in all these, is his firm
believe that I can assist him. For each
time he sees me, his tired eyes light up
with hope and this throws a huge burden
on me. Yesterday, he came in as usual
and I promptly forgot him in the
reception. Deep into my own issues I
continued fighting the fires that threaten
to consume me. The Gringe is at it again,
generally disturbing me so I forgot that
my friend was patiently waiting in the
reception. On my way out I saw him and
asked him to come in. We had a brief
chat and I saw that he did not really
have enough skill set to work in any of
my platforms not like we could even
afford him since we too were struggling.
But his enthusiasm and earlier mentioned
‘hope’ spurred me to try my best.
I asked him to remind me later at night
to discuss with Segun in a bid to see if
Segun could assist him and that opened
the floodgate. He sent me a text begging
for this opportunity and in the text he
mentioned that his wife left him cos he
lost his job.
That hit me, this was the second time I
was hearing this and my mind went
straight to my mother’s advise when
Nicholas the big headed argonaut sacked
me for nothing. My mum advised me not
to tell my wife since I could not
guarantee her reaction. So I did not tell
her o. I told her I was on leave and would
be using the opportunity to start
something for myself. When the ‘leave’
time passed, I started going out with my
suit and lap top every morning like I was
going to work but always ended at the
Southern Sun Hotel to seat down and
pretend I was working on a project and
after ‘work’ I will go home and tell her
how busy I was today and how work will
soon kill me.
So this my brothers revelation and my
mums advise got me thinking. What kind
of a woman will leave her husband
because he lost his job? Is it no longer
‘for better for worse’. Is this truly a
trend? Are women this fickle and
heartless-staying when the going is good
and jumping out at the slightest stress in
the marriage.
When it happened to my former
secondary school classmate I threw up
the issue on our class forum and it was
debated heatedly. For me it is good
riddance and no single tear should be
shed for such a Jezebel. She should be
swept away and everything she touched
should be burnt the way you burn
everything touched by an Ebola victim.
That woman would have eventually killed
you even if you did not loose your job.
As I write, I am told to listen to both
sides. For me there is no both sides
according to my friend, Lanre Olusola the
life coach any woman carrying out this
evil act would only be looking for a
justification for an act that already been
perpetrated long before the job loss. To
me the woman should be hung out to dry
up and be treated like a confessed witch
burnt at the stake with her b----t thrown
out there for the cats to devour.
My father lost his job and for eight years
we had real life poverty as a direct
cousin. My father was a wreck
emotionally as he lost the will to live. A
very proud and handsome man was
turned into a wretch and in the wake of
his job loss became depressed and
almost suicidal. So apart from the
obvious financial distortion we had the
additional stress of carrying out a
suicide watch with me sneaking into his
room intermittently every other night to
watch his famous pot belly to see if it
was still moving. The Afang my mother
fed him with made sure he woke up the
next morning. Despite his mood he still
loved his freshly made Afang soup and
his chilled bottle of coca cola.
But the story is my mother’s reaction to
all this. She immediately became the
General in the house. Moving the troops
and not letting us relax or fall into
despair. She used to vow that our
standard of living will not drop and that
she will die instead of letting us drop out
of school. We started hawking bread and
I was the main champion. You can
imagine me just getting into my teenage
years complete with comb hanging from
my back pocket and flying my collars
and winking at the luscious babes that
littered shomolu then and now hawking
bread. It was a terrible experience, but I
could not dare refuse, my mother would
skin me alive furthermore I understood
why I had to hawk the bread. My people I
hiked bread so much that when we
eventually came out of it and I surfaced
at the University of Ibadan anytime
someone shouted ‘Omo oni bread’ I will
subconsciously turn my head. It got to a
point where my then darling, the
lusciously gifted and eternally beautiful
Ms. Toyin Olosunde once asked me why I
always turned back when they called
bread seller, I told her that it as out of
pity for the bread seller that I hated
hawking and when I got rich, I would
liberate all bread sellers in the country.
She hugged me and thanked God for this
angel of a boyfriend. If only she knew.
My mother stood behind my dad.
Shielding him from the shame of a job
loss. Fighting everybody from the NEPA
people who came to disconnect us, to
errant landlords who did not understand
why we could no longer pay the rents.
She worked two jobs as a Nurse, Hawked
bread, sold one of the cars and much
more importantly became the father and
mother and today she single handedly
trained five graduates complete at the
prestigious University of Ibadan. Today
she is nestling in comfort and bliss in
Uyo enjoying the products of her
struggle.
So I will never understand this growing
phenomenon of women jumping out and
in my minds eye I see no justification.
My mother used to laughingly joke with
my father those days. She used to say,
the former Governor of Akwa Ibom was
her toaster and if she had known she
would have agreed but see where her
search for handsome husband has landed
her. My father will burst into tears and
we will all laugh at him and throw his
Afang his way to appease him.
My people I plead with our women to be
like my mother. For eight years she stood
and made sure her husband did not
really feel the humiliation of a job loss,
the loneliness of your essence rudely
dragged away from you by terrible
economic conditions and the absolute
worthlessness you begin to feel as a
result of your inability to be a man.
So to my friend I say good riddance. Do
not beg her, she does not deserve you
and she will perish in the wilderness of
perfidy with her carcass fed to the
vultures and hyena’s of opportunity who
prey on such embodiments of greed and
selfishness by sucking their disease filled
bodies drying it up and leaving them a
worthless carcass to be dragged around
the street by mangy dogs and spat upon.
You have been liberated.
Congratulations.

LASU Graduates Flood Campus To Pick Up Certificates, Deadline MAY BE Shifted .

Graduates are flocking to the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo campus to beat the Oct. 21 deadline set by the institution for them to pick up uncollected certificates or pay more.

Mr #Adekoya Martins, acting Head, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations disclosed in Lagos on Friday that graduates had started showing up in their numbers.

#LASU, on Sept.30, said that 24,734 certificates of graduates who left the institution over the last 10 years were lying uncollected at its registry.

The university said following the backlog of uncollected certificates, it had decided that affected graduates who failed to collect theirs before Oct. 21 would have to pay N15,000 before doing so.

It said the collection of the certificates had commenced since Sept. 26 but the turn out by the graduates had been very poor.

#Martins said that the situation had changed since the beginning of the week as graduates who finished at the university years back had been rushing in to collect their certificates.

Though the registry staff have been working round the clock till around 6p.m. to ensure that all the graduates are issued their certificates on schedule, the queue is still so much,
he said.

According to him, there were indications that they may not even be able to accommodate all the affected graduates before the deadline, which may necessitate a review of the deadline.

He, however, urged the graduates who had yet to come for theirs to ensure that they did so before the stipulated time, as extension of time was not guaranteed.

Oyegun Formally Replies Tinubu: "Your Allegations Are Reckless And False"

The National Chairman of the governing All progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, has formally replied a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, who accused him of fraud and dictatorship in his handling of the party’s affairs.
Mr. Oyegun said Mr. Tinubu’s public letter contained “reckless falsehood.”

The national chairman issued a statement on Friday in which he attempted to respond to all the allegations raised by the former Lagos State governor.

Read below the full statement by Mr. Odigie-Oyegun:

THE FACTS – 2016 ONDO STATE APC GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION PRIMARIES
The outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2016 Ondo State Governorship Primary Election has led to disagreements among some Party stakeholders in the state and at the national level. The ripples from the controversy over the election have unfortunately dragged our great party on to the front pages of newspapers for the wrong reasons.

Recently, the media office of Bola Tinubu falsely and recklessly accused me of corruption, rigging the outcome of the 2016 Ondo State APC governorship election primaries and overruling the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) “vote” on the 2016 Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee Report.

In view of the misinformation and false reports that have been fed to the media and that have pervaded the public space, there is need to set the records straight. Below are factual responses to the salient points and allegations made by the media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its statement.

ALLEGATION
The media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its statement alleged that I overruled the NWC’s vote of “six against five” in favour of cancelling the primary election results and conducting another primary.
FACT
According to the minutes of the 18th emergency meeting of the APC NWC held from Monday 19th September 2016 to Thursday 22nd September, 2016 at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, there was absolutely no meeting which I chaired that voted in the manner alleged. Clearly, the report on which the media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu acted was a figment of someone’s wild imagination.
On Thursday 22nd September, 2016 being the final day for submission of candidate by Political Parties, the NWC discussed the possibility of voting having finished deliberation on the2016 Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee Report because members in support of cancelling the Primary results were still strident in their position.
A member of the NWC however drew the attention of the meeting to its previous decision in which the report of the Primary Election Committee was adopted while the Appeal Committee was set aside. The implication of this decision he reasoned was that a decision to submit the name of the winner of the primary election was already taken unless the NWC will now wish to reconsider its earlier decision.
I agreed with this and ruled that the previous decision of the NWC be upheld.

ALLEGATION
The media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its statement also alleged that the names of “over 150 valid delegates were excised to make room for an equal number of impostors”.
FACT
The Ondo State approved delegates list was compiled in strict compliance with the Party’s constitution. Only qualified delegates were included in the list. Moreso, none of the aspirants or the Appeal Committee has submitted to NWC a list of delegates who were not qualified to be included in the delegates list but were listed as delegates or presumed qualified delegates who were not included in the delegates list used for the Primary.

ALLEGATION
The media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its statement alleged that I used a “prayer interlude” which I initiated to “secretly excuse” myself from the NWC meeting to submit the name of Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the candidate of the Party.

FACT
The allegation is high fiction and an insult to the intelligence and sensibility of the respected NWC members present at the meeting. We do not and have never engaged in prayer interludes/sessions outside the usual opening and closing prayers. The prayer that is being referred to must be the closing prayer for the meeting.

ALLEGATION
The media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its statement accused me of bribery and corruption over the outcome of the Ondo State APC governorship election primaries.“Oyegun has dealt a heavy blow to the very party he professes to lead. It is an awful parent who suffocates his own child for the sake of a few naira.” The statement issued by media office of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu read.
FACT
This reckless and baseless corruption allegation levelled against me is unfortunate and an insult to my person and my hard-earned reputation which I have strongly maintained. Nobody has the kind of money that can buy my conscience or make me do injury to an innocent man. In all the primaries conducted under my watch as National Chairman, I have strived to ensure a free, fair, transparent and credible process. The 2016 Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election was not an exception. There must be internal democracy in the Party and our constitution must be respected by all.

APPEAL COMMITTEE REPORT
The Party’s NWC decision to reject the 2016 Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee Report was taken on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in executive session after careful and exhaustive deliberations. The minutes and rejection were confirmed by the NWC on Thursday, September 22, 2016.

The NWC in its four-point resolution rejected the Appeal Committee’s recommendation on the grounds that the report was fundamentally and fatally flawed. The NWC observed that the Appeal Committee contradicted itself when it admitted in its report, “In making the above recommendations one is not unmindful of the fact that there may have been substantial compliance in the conduct of the exercise.” but still proceeded to recommend the nullification of the Primary election.

The NWC in its four-point resolution faulted the failure of the Appeal Committee to invite the National Secretariat as the custodian, to authenticate or otherwise the source of the disputed delegates list. Also, the Appeal Committee did not invite the Chairman or members of the Ondo State Governorship Primary Election Committee to clarify issues relating to the allegation of manipulation of the accreditation process. The Appeal Committee rather relied totally on unsubstantiated evidence(s) in the petitions it received to recommend the nullification of the Primary. This is against the principle of natural justice and fair hearing.

The NWC equally observed a serious contradiction in the Appeal Committee’s report in respect of the number of the accredited delegates. Whereas the Primary Election Committee’s report indicated that 2,774 delegates were accredited, the Appeal Committee’s report erroneously recorded it as those who voted in the election, thereby acting under the false impression that there was over voting in the exercise. The actual total number of votes cast was 2,754, as clearly recorded in the Primary Election Committee’s report.

The issue of fresh primaries did not arise as NWC had already rejected the Appeal Committee’s report in view of the stated flaws and upheld the election. In any case, any fresh primary was already time barred. By the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all governorship primaries and issues related ended on September 19, 2016.

Also, voting on the issue became unnecessary and never took place in view of the NWC’s rejection of the Appeal Committee’s report.

The foregoing are facts backed by the minutes approved by all NWC members that attended the meetings held in respect of 2016 Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee Report.

It needs to be stated categorically that the NWC is confident that the Chairman of the Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Abubakar Badaru, Executive Governor of Jigawa State conducted a credible and exemplary exercise. We indeed commend the Governor and his team for their transparency and the free and fair manner the primaries was conducted.

Going forward, I appeal very passionately to leaders and members of the Party at all levels to explore internal dispute resolution mechanisms in addressing their perceived grievances instead of resorting to the media to vent their spleen.

There are enormous challenges in delivering on the Party’s 2015 election promises to Nigerians. On the immediate horizon is the task of winning the governorship election in Ondo state. We cannot afford to be distracted by the present contentions.

I wish to assure Party members that despite the media attention that has been generated by the disagreements in the aftermath of the 2016 Ondo State Governorship Primary Election, the Party is focused on the task ahead and we urge our Party leaders and teeming supporters to also remain calm.

The Party has already commenced wide consultations with stakeholders with a view to resolving the political differences that still exist. Hurling brickbats cannot help the cause of the party in any way.

The APC national leadership remains united and solidly committed to the task of winning the Ondo state governorship election to save the people of the state from the misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

15 Things Buhari Is Doing To Cut Down Cost Of Governance By Lauretta Onochie

15 Things President Buhari Is Doing To Cut down The Cost Of Governance And Reduce Wastage

1) Buhari and his vice took a paycut of 50% to symbolise their commitment to the cutting down on the cost of governance.

2) Buhari then directed the RMAFC to review and prune down the salary of all public office holder in the country. That review will only come into effect after the expiration of the tenure of the current office holders, as the constitution says RMAFC cannot review the salary to the disadvantage of public office holders the moment they get into office.

3) Buhari reduced the number of federal ministries from over 40 to just over 20. Buhari reduced the number of federal advisers by more than 50%.

4) Buhari has limited the number of his entourage on foreign trips to essential personnels only.
4b) Buhari implemented the TSA to plug leakages in every institution of government.

5) Buhari has used the BVN to fish out over 40,000 ghost workers, thereby saving billions of naira of monthly salary for Nigeria.

6) Buhari removed the fraudulent subsidy, thereby saving government trillions of naira of ANNUAL payment for a programme that was only oiling the pockets of the corrupt.

7) No Federal Minister in Buhari's cabinet can travel out of Abuja without Buhari's say-so, thereby cutting down on wasteful spending associated with aimless travels.

cool Buhari has restructured the NNPC into a profitable venture for the first time in ages, the waste and leakages associated with the corporation has been reduced drastically.

9) Before Buhari appointed his Ministers, he spent months plugging leakages in the Federal Civil Service and Revenue Generating Agencies, resulting in Nigeria having more revenue to fund the budget from the non-oil sector than the oil-sector, for the first time since oil was discovered in Nigeria. Before Buhari took over, the oil sector contributed to 85% of our national revenue.

10) And most recently, Buhari has ordered the sale of 2 presidential jets from a fleet of ten, and directed that some of the jets be transferred to the Airforce for operational purposes thereby saving security agency the purchase cost of new jets.

11) President Buhari turned down moves to procure new cars for his office, preferring to use the ones left behind by his predecessor.

12) President Buhari has reduced the import of certain items we have comparative advantage in producing, in order to reduce the waste of foreign reserves.

13) Buhari also liberalised the petroleum sector, allowing importers to source for forex themselves, thereby reducing the waste of foreign reserves.

15) President Buhari's fight against corruption has also brought in a new discipline in the way public office holders handle money, they are now aware that they may be called to give account of their spending later in the future.

The list of what Buhari is doing to cut down waste and reduce the cost of governance is almost endless. No other president in Nigeria has shown a greater commitment to this course than Buhari. It's true that Nigeria's problem is enormous and it becomes difficult to feel the immediate impact of what he is doing, but to sit down there and call him names because you don't know what he's doing is not only uncharitable but disrespectful
